The RWC Sanctuary Community Guidelines

The purpose of our Community Guidelines is to ensure that all of our community members have the best possible experience inside The Sanctuary. We are all here to read, write, and create in new and meaningful ways, and to have a good time!

We are sharing these guidelines not because we expect negative behavior from anyone, but because we believe having clear expectations is a necessary part of building a respectful and safe community space.

Community Rules

Be considerate. Please be considerate of how you take up (virtual and real) space and how your actions may impact others.

Be patient.  Please be mindful that everything will not be done the way you are accustomed to, or according to your personal expectations or your preferred schedule. Please be patient with the RWC team and your fellow sister scribes.

Be respectful. Not all of us will agree all the time. Please be respectful of the energy, effort and personal differences of the members in this community.

Be kind. No explanation necessary.

Writing & Workshopping Rules

One of the foundational parts of this community will be the sharing of our written work. There will be many opportunities to share your writing with others in the community. As such, we are trusting one another with our personal creative work, and every writer deserves respect, privacy, and attention to that work.

Talking about our writing often involves talking about personal and challenging subjects.  Please come to these conversations with a sense of openness, curiosity, respect and an attitude of giving. Please speak to Lori or Maceo if something is troubling you or you feel uncomfortable sharing your work.

Writers who share their work in our private community, should expect it will be treated with the utmost discretion. To that end, never discuss or share a fellow writer's work-in-progress outside of The Sanctuary without their specific  permission.
