The RWC Sanctuary Community Guidelines

The purpose of our Community Guidelines is to ensure that all of our community members have the best possible experience inside The Sanctuary. We are all here to optimize and enjoy our writing lives.

We are sharing these guidelines not because we expect negative behavior from anyone, but because we believe having clear expectations is a necessary part of building a respectful and safe community space for all.

By participating in The Sanctuary, you agree to adhere to and uphold these guidelines.

 Community Rules

  • Be considerate. Please be considerate of how you take up (virtual and real) space and how your actions may impact others. We expect all Sanctuary members to strive to be conscientious community members.

  • Be patient.  Please be mindful that everything will not be done the way you are accustomed to, or according to your personal expectations or your preferred schedule. Please be patient with the RWC team and your fellow sister scribes.

  • Be respectful. Not all of us will agree all the time. Please be respectful of the energy, effort and personal differences of the members in this community. When in doubt, please treat others the way you would want to be treated.

  • Be kind. No explanation necessary. Unkind behavior will not be tolerated in The Sanctuary.

Writing & Workshopping Rules

  •  One of the foundational parts of this community will be the sharing of our written work. There will be many opportunities to share your writing with others in the community. As such, we are trusting one another with our personal creative work, and every writer deserves respect, privacy, and critical attention to that work.

  •  Talking about our writing often involves talking about personal and challenging subjects. Please come to these conversations with a sense of openness, curiosity, respect and compassion.

  •  Writers who share their work in our private community, should expect it will be treated with the utmost discretion. To that end, never discuss or share a fellow writer's work-in-progress outside of The Sanctuary without their specific permission.

Privacy and Intellectual Property Rules

  • Members should never share the personal information of Sanctuary members outside of The Sanctuary without consent. This includes email addresses, phone numbers, private messages, and/or other confidential information.

  • Members will not share any material (including all written and visual content) from inside of The Sanctuary, outside of The Sanctuary. Members will respect the intellectual property rights of others and will not plagiarize, share, or otherwise disseminate the work of others. This rule will be strictly enforced with immediate expulsion from the community if such violations occur, as well as compensatory measures.

Generative AI Rules

  • The Sanctuary has a firm anti-generative AI policy. The use of artificial intelligence or any similar technologies (whether now known or hereafter developed) to generate all or any part of any Submissions and/or Literary Work for feedback or consideration in The Sanctuary is prohibited. As a community, we will not support or review any AI generated work.

If we see something that we think violates these guidelines, we’ll let the persons involved know, and allow them to amend their violation. However, management reserves the right to remove members at our discretion based on any of these violations.

If you recognize any violation of these guidelines, please notify Lori or Maceo via DM and let us know about the issue.

If you have any questions about these guidelines, please send a DM to Lori or Maceo.
